We left off yesterday with the focus on the intention of growth and of thinking up some dreams and we are anxious to know what you came up with!? Alright, you don't have to share if you don't want to but we do hope you thought long and hard about some of the things you want in your life. It is time for step two!
With some goals firmly in mind, we need to start thinking about how to get you from here to there. This is where some goal planning comes into play. There are any number of ways to go about it but the one thing that you need to do is that you MUST write it down. Writing it down is how you track how far you've come and gives you a visual idea of what you need to do every day in small ways to make big things happen.
Figure Out How to Get From A to B and Forget About Z
The first thing we need to do is to focus on the dream we have and how long we have set out for ourselves to accomplish that goal. The next thing is to figure out what smaller steps you can do on a weekly and daily basis to start adding up to that bigger whole. A very straightforward way to imagine this is if you want to save $3,000 in 3 months, you would need to save $1,000 a month, $250 a week, and $75 a day to make it happen!
When you can start breaking down your huge dreams into small tasks you can easily manage every day (or most days) then those small pieces start to add up. You don't need to write for 12 hours a day for 2 weeks straight to write a book. Writing for a half an hour a day for a couple of months could add up to the same, if not better, work.
So, your goal for today is to take your dreams and to start breaking them down. The small little habits you do every day can make them a reality if you're careful and make sure those habits each have a purpose. A tip to start is to also make the small tasks very easy and work your way up. Building momentum and a feeling of success is an incredibly important piece of the puzzle, just behind actually starting!
Let us know what you're going to start doing every day to make that dream a reality!
Until tomorrow,
Drew
